'Bass Point Cottage' is a traditional Cornish cottage, and one of two built for employees of nearby Lloyds Signal Station. The cottage is located on the cliffs to the east of the Lizard lighthouse and close to the coastguard lookout. It has its own garden from which there are panoramic sea views and it is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and designated of special scientific interest. There is a good choice of shops plus excellent pub/restaurant, post office, serpentine workshops etc. at the Lizard village all within a 20-minute walk along the footpath or approximately a mile by car.
Please note: This property is at the end of a half-mile rough gated track through farmland, so please drive with great care. The property is in a cliff top position and young children require careful supervision
The cottage is basically yet comfortably furnished with many of the original features. Entered via a porch/sunroom with table / bench set and piano. Glazed door to dining room with wood/coal burner, part exposed stone and brick walls, table, chairs and electric radiator. The kitchen includes electric cooker, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave and tumble dryer. The bathroom located on the ground floor is pine panelled with bath, handbasin and WC. The sitting-room with sea views is furnished with a two-seater sofa, easy chairs, coffee table, colour TV and electric fire. Steep staircase (panelled both sides with handrail one side) to bedrooms, both of which have two 3' single beds.
Electric heaters in both bedrooms. All the grounds are to the front of the cottage with sea views. Off-road parking for two cars on grassed area by the cottage. Rental includes bedlinen and initial supply of fuel for the log/coal burner (extra available locally). Electricity via £1 electric meter. One dog accepted by prior arrangement.
